Etiquette

The Training Hall

Upon entering and leaving the training hall (Do Jang) you should bow to your instructor. When lining up at the start of a lesson, evenly spaced rows are formed in front of the instructor. The positions taken are determined by grade or seniority with the most senior student on the front right hand side. The tenets and oath are then recited by the whole class.

Training Sessions

Politeness and respect are essential qualities at any training session and must be observed at all times. Always refer to your instructor and black belts as Mr, Mrs or Miss and when answer with Sir or Madam. If you want to ask a question always raise your hand and wait until signalled to ask the question. If you need to leave the Do Jang at any time you must always ask the permission of your instructor. Upon returning to the Do Jang, ask permission before rejoining the class.

At the end of the training session students line up in their original positions. The senior student calls the class to attention. The senior student or students turn to face the class and the next senior student calls the class to bow. The instuctor wll then dismiss the class.
